CLARK ART INSTITUTE AIRS THE MET: LIVE IN HD PRODUCTION OF LA BOHÈME AND PRESENTS A POP-UP EXHIBITION INSPIRED BY THE PERFORMANCE

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Metropolitan Opera’s broadcast of La Bohème airs at the Clark Art Institute on Saturday, November 8 at 1 pm. The Met: Live in HD is an award-winning series of live, high-definition cinema simulcasts features the full live performance along with backstage interviews and commentary. The Clark broadcasts the opera in its Manton Research Center auditorium.

With its enchanting setting and spellbinding score, the world’s most popular opera is as timeless as it is heartbreaking. Franco Zeffirelli’s picture-perfect production brings nineteenth-century Paris to the Met stage as Puccini’s young friends and lovers navigate the joy and struggle of bohemian life. Soprano Juliana Grigoryan stars as the feeble seamstress Mimì, opposite tenor Freddie De Tommaso as the ardent poet Rodolfo.

To complement the broadcast, the Clark’s Manton Study Center for Works on Paper hosts a pop-up exhibition of specially curated prints, drawings, and photographs featuring Parisian city views. The free pop-up display is on view from 11 am to 1 pm on November 8, prior to the broadcast of La Bohème.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. Galleries are open 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Sunday from September through June, and daily in July and August. Admission is free to all from January through March and is $22 for adults, $20 for adults age 65+, $10 for adults ages 18-25, and $10 for college students with a valid student ID from April through December; admission is free year-round for Clark members and all visitors under age 18.
