School Groups

The Clark welcomes school groups of all ages. Our goal is to encourage students to look carefully at works of art, to think and talk about them, and to realize that engaging with art can be valuable and fun.

Admission is free, and we offer assistance with transportation costs for school groups. School groups must schedule visits through the Education Department, whether the visits are guided or self-guided.

Guided gallery talks can enhance student learning by helping students develop skills such as observation, analysis, reasoning, and an appreciation of different perspectives and ambiguity. Our approach involves in-depth conversation around a few works of art rather than a tour-like visit with many objects from our collection.

Youth Programs

There are many ways for youth groups to enjoy a visit to the Clark; docent-led gallery talks are available year round and are offered free of charge. To learn more or to book a visit, please contact the Education Department at 413 458 0563 or email the department.

Plan a School Visit

Please see our list of suggested themes and featured gallery talks in the PDFs section below. School group gallery talks and admission are free of charge—please read the Teacher Guidelines for more information. Clark staff work with teachers to tailor each gallery talk to particular areas of the school curriculum, individual classroom projects, and state education standards.
