CLARK ART INSTITUTE AIRS THE MET: LIVE IN HD PRODUCTION OF “MANON”

Williamstown, Massachusetts—Massenet’s tale of passion and excess, Manon, airs at the Clark Art Institute Saturday, October 26, at 12:55 pm. Now in its fourteenth season, The Met: Live in HD is the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts. Broadcasts feature the full performance along with backstage interviews and commentary.

Manon tells the story of a young woman who yearns for luxury and love. Rising soprano Lisette Oropesa stars in the effervescent title role alongside tenor Michael Fabiano as her ardent admirer, Chevalier des Grieux. Tenor Carlo Bosi, baritones Artur Ruciński and Brett Polegato, and bass Kwangchul Youn support. Maurizio Benini conducts Laurent Pelly’s enchanting production, which transports audiences to “Belle Époque” Paris. Run time is 3 hours, 52 minutes.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
