CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO BROADCAST PUCCINI OPERA ‘LA FANCIULLA DEL WEST’

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute broadcasts Giacomo Puccini’s La Fanciulla del West (Girl of the West) live from the Metropolitan Opera on Saturday, October 27 at 12:55 pm. Soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek sings the gun-slinging heroine in Puccini’s romantic epic of the Wild West, alongside star tenor Jonas Kaufmann in the role of the outlaw Dick Johnson. Baritone Željko Lučić is the vigilante sheriff Jack Rance, and Marco Armiliato conducts.

Now in its thirteenth season, The Met: Live in HD is The Metropolitan Opera’s Peabody and Emmy Award-winning series of live performances transmitted to theaters in seventy countries around the world. Live telecasts feature the full performance along with backstage interviews and commentary.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. The Clark, which has a three-star rating in the Michelin Green Guide, is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm; open daily in July and August. Admission is $20; free year-round for Clark members, children 18 and younger, and students with valid ID.
