CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO BROADCAST ‘KING LEAR’ FROM LONDON’S WEST END

For Immediate Release
October 18, 2018

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute broadcasts King Lear, starring Ian McKellen, from London’s West End on Saturday, November 3 at 1 pm. Tickets are $18 ($16 members) and may be purchased online at clarkart.edu or by calling the box office at 413 458 0524.

Considered by many to be the greatest tragedy ever written, King Lear tells the story of two aging fathers—one a king, one his courtier—who reject the children who truly love them. Their blindness unleashes a tornado of pitiless ambition and treachery, as family and state are plunged into a violent power struggle with bitter ends. “This production still dazzles, McKellen shimmering brightest at its dark, tormented heart” (The Guardian).

Run time is 3 hours, 40 minutes. Please note that this performance contains strobe lighting. This is an encore presentation. All ticket sales are non-refundable.
