CLARK ART INSTITUTE KICKS OFF NEW SEASON OF MET OPERA BROADCASTS WITH VERDI’S ‘AIDA’

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute airs a live broadcast of Aida, one of the most beloved operas of all time, on Saturday, October 6 at 12:55 pm. The Giuseppe Verdi opera is the first of The Met: Live in HD’s series of ten operas, all transmitted live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York and shown in the Clark’s auditorium.

Soprano Anna Netrebko sings the title role of the Ethiopian slave, Aida, with mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili as her formidable rival Amneris, the princess who holds her captive. Aleksandrs Antonenko is the warrior Radamès, with whom both Aida and Amneris are in love. Nicola Luisotti takes the podium for the Met’s monumental production.

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
