CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO AIR PART II OF 'ANGELS IN AMERICA'

Williamstown, Massachusetts—“Perestroika,” Part II of the London National Theatre’s production of Angels in America, airs at the Clark Art Institute on Sunday, August 20 at 1 pm. Tickets are $18 ($16 members) and can be ordered online at clarkart.edu or by calling 413 458 0524. Run time is 4 hours, 20 minutes.

Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play features a star-studded cast including Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge), Nathan Lane (The Producers), Denise Gough, and Russell Tovey. Directed by Marianne Elliott, the influential play covers the AIDS epidemic in New York in the 1980s. Featuring characters that are supernatural beings (angels) or deceased persons (ghosts), the play contains multiple roles for several of the actors. Primarily focusing on a gay couple in Manhattan, the play also has several other storylines, some of which intersect. The two parts of Angels in America are not dependent upon each other; viewers need not have seen Part I to enjoy Part II.

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
