For Immediate Release
August 11, 2015

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute and IS183 Art School of the Berkshires have joined forces to present “Nature in Line and Color,” a class exploring techniques of outdoor painting, on Sunday, August 23 from 10 am to 4 pm. Students should meet at the Lunder Center at Stone Hill on the Clark’s campus. The price for the class is $110 for tuition and materials ($85 for Clark or IS183 members). For more information and to register, visit www.IS183.org or call 413 298 5252 x100.

Vincent van Gogh drew and painted detailed studies as well as sweeping views of nature. In this plein air workshop, students will explore the artist’s unique use of color, line, and movement as they draw with a variety of materials from pencil to oil pastels. Using careful observation, exercises, demonstrations, and the study of color, participants will craft compositions of nature at the Clark with an eye to channeling some of Van Gogh’s bold color and energy. Instructor Marilyn Cromwell will guide each student individually; all skill levels are welcome.
