CONCERTANTE PLAYERS FEATURED IN THE CLARK'S FIRST CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT OF THE SEASON

For Immediate Release

July 26, 2013

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—On Tuesday, August 6 at 8 pm, the Concertante Chamber Players will inaugurate the 2013 Chamber Music Series at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute. This concert series presents a different chamber ensemble at the Clark every Tuesday evening in August. Tickets are $25 for the general public, $20 for members, and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased online at clarkart.edu, in person at the Museum Shop, or by calling 413 458 0524.

The Concertante Chamber Players first formed in 1995 as a chamber orchestra, but have since evolved into a sextet—a rarity in chamber music. As such, the Concertante Chamber Players are a supremely flexible ensemble capable of drawing on the repertoire of works for trios and quartets, as well as a variety of pieces written specifically for sextets. For their performance at the Clark, the ensemble is scheduled to perform Elgar’s Serenade in E minor, Dvorák’s Sextet in A major, and Brahms’s Sextet no. 2 in G major, Opus 36. Though they are based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and in New York City, the group has performed all over the world, including China and Israel. They have garnered critical accolades for their “beautifully focused” playing (The New York Times, May 18, 2010).

An optional three-course fixed price meal served in the Clark Café before the performance allows guests to choose from a variety of appetizers, entrées, and desserts for $29 per person. Reservations are required; call 413 458 0524.
