Ting Chang is an art historian and independent scholar. She was previously a Clark Fellow in 2005. Her book, Travel, Collecting, and Museums of Asian Art in Nineteenth-Century Paris, is forthcoming. The book examines intercultural exchanges between Europe and East Asia through the Musée Cernuschi, the Musée Guimet and the dispersed collection of Edmond de Goncourt in Paris. Her current project is “Materializing China in Nineteenth-Century Britain: Objects Outside the Canon,” a book on diverse representations of China in performances, miniature theatres, optical devices, and panoramas. She is particularly interested in questions of scale and somatic experience.
