Romy Golan

Romy Golan is Professor of Art History at the Graduate Center and Lehman College of the City University of New York. She is the author of Modernity and Nostalgia: Art and Politics in France between the Wars and Muralnomad: the Paradox of Wall Painting, Europe 1927-1957 (Yale, 1995 and 2009). Recent writings include an essay on Michelangelo Pistoletto in Grey Room 49 (Fall 2012) and “The disappearance of a disappearance” in Giosetta Fioroni: L’Argento, The Drawing Center, New York, 2013. Her current project, Flashbacks and Eclipses in Italian Art of the 1960s, aims to revisit a decade assumed to be thoroughly “presentist” in attitude by way of non-linear forms of temporality.
