Mignon Nixon

Mignon Nixon is Professor of Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London and a co-editor of October. She was previously a Clark Fellow in 2006. She is the author ofFantastic Reality: Louise Bourgeois and a Story of Modern Art (MIT Press/October, 2005) and the editor of the Eva Hesse October File (2002). Her body of work concentrates on art since 1960 in interaction with the theories and politics of feminism, psychoanalysis, and anti-militarism. Recent writings include essays on Nancy Spero (“Spero’s Curses,” October 122, 2007) and Yayoi Kusama (“Infinity Politics,” Yayoi Kusama exh. cat., Tate Modern, 2012). At the Clark, she will be working on a book, Sperm Bomb: Art, Feminism, and the American War in Vietnam.
