Mapping the Tavitian Collection
The Tavitian Collection spans the early modern period—defined from about 1450 to 1800—and a wide geographical range across Europe. It highlights the mobility and movement of artists, many of whom worked outside of their homelands for all or part of their careers, and across historical centers of artistic production. The collection represents both well- and lesser-known artists and works of art, encouraging moments of discovery and connection among artists, places, and time periods. This map of Europe presents a selection of objects in the exhibition and their places of origin. As you move through the galleries, you are invited to trace the various cities and regions where the works were made and explore the ways in which artists and objects moved and interacted across places and media.
