Howard Coutts is ceramics officer at the Bowes. He made extensive use of Clark Library holdings in a month of Fellowship research on the art market in Paris in the 1860s, concentrating on the dealers and auction sales in Old Master paintings, modern works, decorative arts, and antiques as they contributed to the formation of museums and private collections.
