Join artist Raffaella della Olga for an improvisational typewriter performance and conversation with exhibition curator Robert Wiesenberger on the occasion of the opening of Raffaella della Olga: Typescripts.
Raffaella della Olga makes unique artist’s books using modified typewriters and multicolor ink ribbons on a range of materials—from tracing paper to photo paper to sandpaper. Della Olga plays her typewriters like instruments, following a script in some cases and improvising freely in others.
Free. Accessible seats available; for information, call 413 458 0524.
PERFORMING RAFFAELLA DELLA OLGA’S TYPESCRIPTS: LUKE FISCHBECK AND ALEXANDRA GRIMAL
January 31, 6 pm
Manton Research Center auditorium
Raffaella della Olga considers her practice of typewriter art in musical terms, with the machine itself as an instrument and the resulting works as graphic scores. In this program, Williams College lecturer Luke Fischbeck (of the collaborative sound art group lucky dragons) will perform two works inspired by della Olga’s practice: a solo piano composition by Parisian composer Alexandra Grimal, “Typewriter #2, for Piano,” and his own live mix of an electronic sound piece based on recordings made on the Clark’s campus.
Tickets $10 ($8 members, $7 college students, $5 children 17 and under). Accessible seats available; for information, call 413 458 0524. For tickets, visit clarkart.edu/events.
