Rocco Sinisgalli is professor of art history in the department of art history at the Universita' degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza." He specializes in Renaissance architectural and humanistic theory, and is author of a number of works on perspective, including Per la Storia Della Prospettiva 1405 - 1605 (Rome, 1978) and Borromini a quattro Dimensioni (Firenze, 1981). His translations include some of the most important Latin treatises of the Renaissance into Italian, and he just finished a new translation of Alberti's De Pictura. While at the Clark, he will study Alberti's role in the creation and dissemination of new ideas of linear perspective.
