About the Artist

Giorgio Griffa was born in 1936 in Turin, Italy, and lives and works there today. He has been featured in three editions of the Venice Biennale (1978, 1980, and 2017) and has been the subject of recent museum exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou in Paris (2022), the Camden Arts Centre in London (2018), and the Centre d’Art Contemporain in Genève (2015), among many others. The Clark Art Institute’s survey, the artist’s first in North America, coincides with his 90th birthday.
