Join curatorial intern Nora Rosengarten (MA candidate, Williams Graduate Program in the History of Art), for an in-depth look at German artist Max Klinger’s portfolio Intermezzi (1881), a set of twelve etchings with diverse, fantastical subjects. The talk concludes with a visit to Extreme Nature!, which displays Klinger’s Battling Centaurs amid artistic renderings of landscapes inhabited by mythical creatures.

Max Klinger (German, 1857–1920), Battling Centaurs (Kämpfende Centauren), plate 5 from Intermezzi, Opus IV (detail), 1881. Etching and aquatint on paper, 15 3/16 x 9 3/4 in.
