Join fellow art lovers for a half hour talk focused on one object in the galleries, followed by continued discussion over lunch with the presenter in the Carswell Room. This month, join Lucas Matheson, Curatorial Intern and MA ‘18, as he discusses Helen Frankenthaler’s Madame Butterfly (2000) in the Manton Research Center, Eugene V. Thaw Gallery for Works on Paper. Matheson will connect Frankenthaler’s triptych woodcut to the artist’s long-standing interest in Japan, and discuss its relationship with her often overlooked sculpture practice.

Talk is free with admission, come early to pre-order and purchase your meal from Café 7 or bring a brown-bag for lunchtime discussion. Meet at the Admissions Desk.
