Join Curatorial Assistant Laurel Garber for a gallery talk about the exhibition George Inness: Gifts from Frank and Katherine Martucci. This exhibition brings together ten paintings by the American landscapist George Inness (1825–1894)—eight recently given to the Clark by the Martuccis and two that were purchased by Sterling Clark and been a part of the Institute's collection since 1955. Dating from the early 1880s to 1894, the year of the artist’s death, the works represent the mature phase of Inness’s art, highlighting his evolution toward a more ethereal and evocative depiction of nature.
