This performance of Jewels (2011, 92 min.) by the Mariinsky Ballet—formerly known as the Kirov—of Saint Petersburg, one of the world’s greatest ballet companies, was filmed at the Mariinsky Theatre and features such well-known dancers as Ulyana Lopatkina, Igor Zelensky, and Andrian Fadeyev alongside conductor Tugan Sokhiev. Jewels was premiered in New York in 1967 and did not receive its first performance by the Mariinsky Ballet until 1999; it has since become a core part of the company’s repertoire.
