Clarinetist Dave Bennett and his jazz septet bring the classic sound and music of Benny Goodman to life with incredible technique, style, beauty of tone, and naturalness. Bennett and his septet transport listeners back to the time and mood of Goodman's "swing era" with works such as "I've Got Rhythm," "Body and Soul," "Stompin' at the Savoy," and many others. The septet has mastered the harmonized riffs and ensemble parts famous from the original Goodman recordings of the 1930s and '40s. Bennett has performed with several of Goodman's famous band members, including vibraphonist Peter Appleyard, guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, and pianist Dick Hyman in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
Bennett premiered his tribute to Benny Goodman septet in 2003 in Windsor, Ontario, prompting the reviewer for the Windsor Star to call him "a jaw dropping phenom on the clarinet." The septet now performs throughout the U.S. to sold-out houses, and have been featured on NPR and at the Bern, Switzerland International Jazz Festival.
