Claremont Piano Trio
August 17, 2010
8:00 pm
Widely regarded as the premier piano trio of its generation, the Claremont Trio is sought after for its thrillingly virtuosic and richly communicative performances. First winners of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award and the only piano trio ever to win the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, the Claremonts are consistently praised for their “aesthetic maturity, interpretive depth, and exuberance” (Palm Beach Daily News). The trio has performed widely through the United States and Europe and for their tenth anniversary season in 2008–09, they performed return engagements at Carnegie Hall in New York City and at Washington’s Kennedy Center. They regularly conduct educational outreach activities and master classes, most recently at the Peabody Conservatory’s Preparatory Division, at Eastman School of Music, Duke University, Boston Conservatory, Middlebury College, and Longy School of Music. Deeply committed to expanding the trio repertoire, they frequently commission new works. The Claremont Trio often performs the Beethoven Triple Concerto with orchestras, including the Utah Symphony, Virginia Symphony, and Pacific Symphony. They have recorded for the Arabesque label and Tria Records and have been featured on Japanese and American television and on radio stations throughout the U.S. and abroad. The trio was formed in 1999 at the Juilliard School.
The Claremont Trio will perform the Beethoven Piano Trio in E-Flat Major, Opus 1, No. 1; Fauré Piano Trio in D Major, Opus 120; and the Brahms Piano Trio in B Major, Opus 8.
