The Painted Sketch

This symposium presented topics related to the exhibition The Painted Sketch: American Impressions from Nature, 1830-1880. The five speakers were Franklin Kelly, curator of American and British paintings at the National Gallery of Art, Washington; Linda Ferber, chief curator and curator of American painting and sculpture at the Brooklyn Museum of Art; Leslie Carlyle, conservation specialist of the Canadian Conservation Institute; and Joyce Zucker and Marie Culver, conservation specialists with the New York State Historic Sites, Peebles Island.
