Hagi Kenaan is senior lecturer in the department of philosophy, Tel Aviv University. He specializes in continental philosophy, phenomenology, and the philosophy of art. In addition to authoring studies of Husserl, Heidgger, Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, and Derrida, he is the author of The Present Personal: Philosophy and the Hidden Face of Language (New York, 2005) and, most recently, Emmanuel Levinas: Ethics as an Optics (Tel Aviv, 2008), which explores the contribution of the ethical thinking of Levinas to our understanding of the visual. While at the Clark Kenaan will pursue his project concerning the place and the trajectory of painting within contemporary French philosophy.
