Lawrence Nichols
July - October 1999
Lawrence Nichols is curator of European painting and sculpture before 1900 at the Toledo Museum of Art. While in Williamstown, he worked on completing a catalogue raisonné of the paintings of Hendrick Goltzius, the Dutch artist whose protean oeuvre gave shape to painting during "The Golden Age." The work is undertaken in anticipation of an international retrospective of Goltzius's work that will be mounted in 2003.
