Harry Mallgrave has written three books on Gottfried Semper: Gottfried Semper: Style in the Technical and Tectonic Arts (2000), Gottfried Semper: Architect of the Nineteenth Century (1996), and Gottfried Semper: The Four Elements of Architecture (1989); and two on Otto Wagner: Otto Wagner: Modern Architecture (1988) and Otto Wagner: The Raiment of Modernity (editor) (1993). During his semester-long Clark Fellowship, Mallgrave worked on a new book, Modern Architectural Theory: 1750-1968, which aims to make the first balanced and thematic presentation of the main lines of debate in this field over this broad span.
