Judith Rodenbeck is Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art at Sarah Lawrence College. The author of Radical Prototypes: Allan Kaprow and the Invention of Happenings (MIT, 2011), past editor-in-chief of Art Journal, and a practicing critic, she is concerned with epistemologies of performance. Recent publications include "Communication Malfunction: Happenings and Gutai" in Gutai: Splendid Playground (Guggenheim, 2013) and "Three Notes on the Behavioral Turn" in The Brooklyn Rail (March 2013). At the Clark she will be working on a book, The Chameleon on the Mirror: Advanced Arts and the Behavioral Turn.
