Hunting for Eggs, 1874, by Winslow Homer (Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute)

Special Installation: City and Country: Scenes of American Life

January 24, 2004 - May 9, 2004

This installation of works on paper from the permanent collection has been selected in conjunction with the special exhibition Sugaring Off: The Maple Sugar Paintings of Eastman Johnson. These scenes of urban and rural life in America, many dating from the early twentieth century, are rarely displayed and reflect, in part, the breadth of the collection. Included were works by Thomas Hart Benton and Winslow Homer.
