The Clark’s current international tour is now on view at the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum in Tokyo.
From time to time, some works of art may be off view. As part of the worldwide museum community, the Clark lends works of art to other institutions and to traveling exhibitions. In addition, works may need to be removed temporarily for conservation reasons or while galleries are refurbished. The following pages contain a partial sampling of works that are currently off view.
Beginning in January 2011, a number of nineteenth-century French paintings from the Clark’s noted collection began a three-year world tour. (View a listing of the works that are currently on tour).
While the Clark’s 1955 museum building is undergoing renovations, the permanent collection has been temporarily relocated to the adjacent Manton Research Center building’s galleries and is being presented in the Clark Classic and Clark Remix exhibitions. Clark Classic features two galleries presenting many of the most noted works in the collection. Clark Remix presents more than 400 objects from the permanent collection (including paintings, sculpture, silver, and ceramics) along with interactive interpretive tools to aid in learning more about the works on view.
