Taxi to Wildenstein’s. . . . They showed me an excellent early Winslow Homer of a girl feeding chickens—In the back ground houses with an effect of sunshine like a [Alexandre Gabriel] Decamp[s]—Nice light picture—One of the best I have ever seen of W. Homer’s earlier epoch—$12,000 asked—Truly Wildenstein’s have pictures of the highest quality!!!!!

We stopped at Wildenstein’s—Félix W[ildenstein] showed us the Winslow Homer’s “Girl Feeding Chickens” I saw yesterday—Francine liked it very much—I got Félix W. down to $10,000 & took the picture—I wanted it to round out my lot of Winslow Homer’s—It came from Mrs. Charles Homer, a brother of Winslow Homer. But it was expensive!!!!

Taxi to Wildenstein’s. . . . Had out my Winslow Homer’s “Sleigh Ride” & the “Girl feeding Chickens” with sun on house in the background—I remarked that [painter Constant] Troyon could do just about the same in his good moments & Decamp[s] was no slouch in play in light & shade—
