The Renaissonics to Perform Annual Holiday Concert at the Clark December 7

For Immediate Release

November 16, 2007

Kick off the Williamstown Holiday Walk weekend with the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute’s annual holiday concert at 8 pm on Friday, December 7, featuring the Renaissonics. This unique ensemble will perform a “carols for dancing” program from the court and country traditions of England, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Two leading Renaissance dancers in full costume will join the ensemble. Tickets are $20 ($17 for Clark members and students) and can be purchased online at, by calling 413-458-0524, or at the Clark museum shop. Advance ticket purchase is encouraged as this concert often sells out.

Recognized as a leading ensemble of Renaissance music, the Renaissonics’s stylish performances allow the audience to experience the elegance and excitement of Renaissance music as it was intended to be heard. Virtuoso solos, glorious chamber music, dance music, and dazzling improvisations combine in a program that joyously bridges the gap between the concert hall and the ballroom. The Renaissonics recently collaborated with WGBH public radio in Boston to produce a feature program and CD entitled “Carols for Dancing.” In addition to touring, the Renaissonics produces a concert series in Boston, as well as a Renaissance social dance series.

The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm (daily in July and August). Admission is free November through May. Admission June 1 through October 31 is $12.50 for adults, free for children 18 and younger, members, and students with valid ID.
