Celebrate the Opening of The Unknown Monet with an Evening of French-Themed Food, Music, and Entertainment on June 23 at the Clark

Join in the excitement surrounding The Unknown Monet: Pastels and Drawings at the opening party, Picnic by the Pond, a wonderful evening of French-themed food, live music, and artistic entertainment around the picturesque lily pond on the grounds of the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute on Saturday, June 23 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres, and an authentic French picnic dinner served in classic French picnic baskets. Music will be in the French cabaret style by C'est si Bon featuring Angela Rossi. During the party, guests will have the opportunity to purchase a Monet Mystery Basket and support the Clark’s school bus program. Each basket costs $50 and is filled with distinctive gifts and services donated by local businesses. All proceeds help fund the Clark’s transportation reimbursement program, which brings thousands of students to the Clark each year.
Delectable fare, served in classic French picnic baskets for one, two or eight, will include Pissaladière Tart, Provençal Vegetable and Chèvre Tian with Tapenade, Herb Roasted Tenderloin of Beef with Mushroom Ragout and Moutarde de Meaux, Asparagus en Vinaigrette and Petite Pommes de Terre en Huile d’Olive, and Baguette, Roasted Pepper Tapenade and Aubergine Ragout. Desserts will include Tartlets, Truffles, Petite Gâteaux, Macaroons, Palmiers and Puffs.
Hailed as a “thrilling” and “profoundly original exhibition” by the London Daily Telegraph, The Unknown Monet, which runs from June 24 to September 16, “transforms our understanding of how Monet worked.” It is the first exhibition to focus on the artist’s graphic works, including pastels, finished drawings, and sketchbooks, many of which have not been previously exhibited.
The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, MA. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm (daily in July and August). Admission June 1 through October 31 is $12.50 for adults, free for children 18 and under, members, and students with valid ID. Admission is free November through May.
