The “Fellows’ Favorites Films” series resumes this spring at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute with Clark Fellows selecting motion pictures and introducing them to the public. In this series, Clark Fellows choose a film for which they have a particular fondness, realize as special, or find inspiring, and give a short introductory talk preceding each screening. This free series, held on selected Thursdays at 7:30 pm in the Clark’s auditorium, continues with The Son’s Room (la Stanza del Figlio) (2002, 99 minutes) introduced by Mignon Nixon on March 23.
Nixon, senior lecturer in art history at the Courtauld Institute, University of London, introduces this moving story of a successful psychoanalyst whose family life is shattered by the death of his son in a scuba diving accident. Nanni Moretti directed and stars in this film alongside Laura Morante. Italian with English subtitles.
Upcoming films in the series include Don Giovanni (1979, 177 minutes) introduced by Alice Jarrard on April 13, Love Serenade (1996, 101 minutes) introduced by Maggie Bickford on May 11, and Charles Musser introduces two of his own documentary films, Before the Nickolodeon: The Cinema of Edwin S. Porter (1982, 60 minutes) and An American Potter (1976, 36 minutes), on May 18.
