Herald in Spring With a Trip to the New England Flower Show
For Immediate Release
February 27, 2006
On Tuesday, March 14, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute is sponsoring a day trip to the fabulous New England Flower Show in Boston. An annual harbinger of spring, the show features dozens of colorful landscapes, hundreds of floral displays, and a stunning garden marketplace. This year’s theme is “Welcome Home! Celebrating Our Great New England Landscape.” Following the show, enjoy dinner at Legal Sea Foods, listed by Zagat’s Survey as Boston’s most popular restaurant. Motor coach will leave the Clark at 9 am and return at approximately 10 pm. Cost for the trip is $120 per person; to reserve a spot, contact the Clark at 413-458-0585.
The show attracts more than 80,000 gardening enthusiasts and consists of more than five acres of exhibit space. Attractions at the event include over 38 gardens designed by local, national and international landscape professionals, amateur competitions which highlight the creations of area garden clubs and junior horticulturalists, and more than 250 garden related vendors in the Garden Marketplace.
A diverse team of amateur and professional designers have been brought together by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society to construct a “virtual show house” in the center of the show floor. Combining interior vignettes with garden settings, the show house will provide inspiration for homeowners, a marketing opportunity for a multitude of vendors, and an intriguing, theatrical walk-through experience for visitors.
The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm (daily in July and August.) Admission is free November through May. Admission June 1 through October 31 is $10 for adults, free for children 18 and under, members, and students with valid ID.
