Children's Event to Focus on Landscapes and Townscapes

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA, (July 28, 2000) - Art and nature come together in a special program for children on Saturday, August 5, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute. "Landscapes and Townscapes" will provide activities for children ages six to twelve as well as a tour for accompanying adults. Children will first learn about the landscapes and cityscapes of the Middle East featured in the exhibition Noble Dreams, Wicked Pleasures: Orientalism in America, 1870-1930, then hike up Stone Hill to sketch views of Williamstown. Cost for the program, including snack and supplies, is $5 per child (free to members of the Clark). Registration is limited to twenty children.

While children are occupied, accompanying adults may take a guided tour of Noble Dreams, Wicked Pleasures. The tour is free with gallery admission ($5 for the general public, free for members). For more information or to reserve, call the education department at 413-458-2303, extension 363.
