“The Art of Magic and the Magic of Art” Free Family Event October 28 at the Clark to Include Viewing of Harry Potter Film
For Immediate Release
October 13, 2005
Celebrating the release of the new book in the Harry Potter series, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute will host a magical family evening on Friday, October 28. “The Art of Magic and the Magic of Art,” beginning at 6:30 pm, will include a half-hour talk by the Clark’s curator of education Michael Cassin followed by a viewing of the movie Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Both events will be held in the Clark’s auditorium and are free to the public.
Cassin’s lively, child-friendly talk will bring to light paintings of magicians and magical apparitions, and look at some of the paintings that appear on screen in the Harry Potter film series. As a highlight of the evening, Cassin will reveal which paintings in the first three Harry Potter movies are “real.” The talk will also include a “behind-the-scenes” look at some of the works in the collection of Alnwick Castle, the building used as the setting for Hogwarts School in the first two movies.
A 7 pm showing of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will complete “The Art of Magic and the Magic of Art” evening.
