Summer Band Concerts at the Clark Continue with the Danceland Big Band July 18

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (July 7, 2000) - The Danceland Big Band will perform a free outdoor concert at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute on Tuesday, July 18, at 6:00 p.m. The concert is the third of four in the Clark's popular summer band concert series. Picnics, blankets, and lawn chairs are welcome, and children receive free balloons.
The Danceland Big Band is a recently formed ensemble featuring musicians from around the Berkshires. Modeled after the big bands of the 1940s, the group showcases music from that era and from the later rock era set to a swing tempo. Band members include Ernie St. John, Ray Kinsella, Diane Chicoine, Jim Stolberg, Dana Swanson, Tom O'Gara, Bob Salzman, Joe Bradford, and Dave Chicoine.
The final concert in the series will be Bruce Molsky and Hoedown on July 25. All concerts are offered at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, when admission to the Clark galleries is free. The galleries will remain open until 6:00 p.m. on band concert evenings. In the event of rain, concerts will be held in the auditorium.
The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free through May. For more information call 413-458-2303 or visit www.clarkart.edu.
