Clark Café Opens June 27

For Immediate Release

June 24, 2004

The café at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute will open for the summer on Sunday, June 27. The full-service restaurant will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily through Labor Day. The menu includes salads, soups, sandwiches, desserts, and beverages with French flair inspired by the Clark's summer exhibition, "Bonjour, Monsieur Courbet!": The Bruyas Collection from the Musée Fabre, Montpellier. The café is operated by CulinArt of Lake Success, New York, with food by local chef Drew Nicastro.

Highlights of the menu include salad Niçoise and panier campagne, a cheese plate with seasonal fruits and fresh-made flatbreads. Featured sandwiches charcuterie enveloppée-thin sliced prosciutto, genoa salami, provolone, roasted red peppers, and green leaf lettuce in a tomato-basil wrap-and fouace aux tomates e mozzarella fraîche, vine-ripened tomatoes, fresh buffalo mozzarella, and fresh basil with pesto on herbed focaccia. A vegetarian pasta will be offered. Soup selections will change daily. Entrées range in price from $9 to $13. Desserts, including caramel apple tart and flourless chocolate cake with raspberry coulis, range from $3 to $4. Wine and ale by the glass are available as are non-alcoholic beverages.

In addition to the full-service café, the Clark's courtyard café serves "grab and go" salads, sandwiches, pastries, and beverages all day (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The courtyard has a small indoor seating area. Visitors may also take their selections to a covered outdoor seating area or any of the picnic tables on the Clark's park-like grounds. "Grab and go" items range from $7 to $10 for entrees and $2 to $3 for pastries.

The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts.  The galleries are open daily 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Gallery admission is $10 (members, students, and 18 and under free). For more information call 413-458-2303 or visit www.clarkart.edu.
