The Doerfels Rock the Clark

For Immediate Release

September 02, 2010

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—The popular family bluegrass band The Doerfels returns to The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute for a special concert on September 19 at 4 pm. The five exceptional Doerfel siblings brought audience members to their feet when they performed at the Clark in 2009, and this year’s concert promises to be just as much fun for the whole family. General admission tickets are $10 ($8 members and students) and can be purchased online at clarkart.edu or by phone at 413 458 0524.

One of today’s most exciting and unique groups, The Doerfels perform lively progressive acoustic music that is a blend of rock, bluegrass, gospel, country, and jazz. Though the oldest Doerfel is just twenty-one, the Goldwing Express calls the band “a force to be reckoned with.” The Doerfels consists of the oldest sibling and leader TJ on banjo, Kim on the fiddle, Eddy on mandolin, Joey on bass and cello, and Ben on guitar. In the last three years, these talented young musicians have performed more than 200 concerts a year, and have shared the stage with artists like Ricky Skaggs, Asleep At The Wheel, and The Isaacs.

The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm (daily in July and August). Admission is $15 June 1 through October 31. Admission is free for children 18 and younger, members, and students with valid ID. Admission is free November through May.
