Free Concert of Baroque Ensemble Music at the Clark

For Immediate Release

January 26, 2010

Victor Hill on harpsichord will be joined by Janet Van Blerkom on violin and Janet Puchalski on flute in a program of Baroque ensemble music on Sunday, February 7, at 3 pm, at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute. Admission is free.

The program will feature three of the trios from the “Pièces de Clavecin en Concerts” of 1741 by Jean-Philippe Rameau. Puchalski will play the Sonata in E Major by J.S. Bach, and Van Blerkom will be joined by violinist Dennis Townsend in a Sonata in C Major formerly attributed to Bach, but now believed to have been composed by his student Johann Gottlieb Goldberg.

Van Blerkom is the concertmistress and Puchalski the principal flutist of the Pioneer Valley Symphony in Greenfield. Hill, the Thomas T. Read Professor of Mathematics, Emeritus, at Williams College, has played concerts throughout the United States and in Europe.

The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm (daily in July and August). Admission June 1 through October 31 is $15 for adults, free for children 18 and younger, members, and students with valid ID. Admission is free November through May.
