Associate Director, Research and Academic Program

The Clark’s Research and Academic Program (RAP) is seeking a new Associate Director. In conjunction with the Starr Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing, organizing, and implementing the Clark Fellowship program and the RAP academic program, which includes conferences, symposia, colloquia, workshops, and other research collaborations.
 
The candidate must have a PhD in art history or a related field and be an active scholar with significant experience in scholarly environments. S/he must be an excellent communicator and be thoroughly abreast of the current critical debates in art, art history, and visual studies. In addition, s/he must be organized, efficient, conscientious, dynamic, and willing to work productively in a small-team environment. A further expectation is full commitment to the purposes and ambitions of the Clark’s world-renowned research program, as well as to maintaining the Clark’s exceptional scholarly community. There is also the opportunity to teach periodically in the Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art.
 
Principal tasks of the associate director include: 

- Working with the Starr Director to conceptualize, organize, execute, oversee, and promote the resident fellowship program
- Working with the Starr Director to create and maintain an active conference, symposium, and colloquium program
- Conceiving and developing new academic programs and initiatives within RAP
- Working with the Starr Director and the Clark’s development team to identify new opportunities for outside funding of the Clark’s research initiatives
- Managing the RAP budget
- Supervising RAP's administrative personnel
