TCHAIKOVSKY’S ‘EUGENE ONEGIN’ TO AIR IN HD AT CLARK ART INSTITUTE

Tchaikovsky’s setting of Alexander Pushkin’s timeless verse novel is presented on the Met stage in Deborah Warner’s moving production, starring Anna Netrebko and Peter Mattei as Tatiana and Onegin. Alexey Dolgov sings the role of Lenski, and Robin Ticciati conducts. Run time: 4 hours.
 
First performed in Moscow in 1879, Eugene Onegin tells the lyric tale of a selfish hero who lives to regret his rejection of a young woman's love and his incitement of a fatal duel with his best friend.
 
Now in its eleventh season, The Met: Live in HD is the Metropolitan Opera’s Peabody and Emmy Award-winning series of live performances transmitted to more than 2,000 movie theaters in seventy countries around the world. Live telecasts feature the full performance along with backstage interviews and commentary.
 
ABOUT THE CLARK
 
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
